Solar Project Kick Off!

Dear Neighbors,

On January 23rd, at 7:00 PM in Wing 118 at City Hall, there will be a presentation and official kick off meeting about the Downtown Solar project, which is available to all residents in District 3.

A committee of interested residents, including myself, was created after the first Community Solar meeting last September, to investigate the feasibility of contracting with a solar energy vendor who could install high quality systems on individual homes at an affordable rate. Since then, the group has been undertaking research, surveying homeowners, interviewing vendors and undertaking a thorough review of each proposal for this Downtown Solar Project. At this time, we are very excited and pleased to announce that we have selected a company for this project: Solar installer REC ( recsolar.com). Together with their Business Partner, Sun Run (www.sunrunhome.com), they are offering homeowners in District 3 the opportunity to install an excellent solar system at a discounted rate.

Additionally, REC/Sun Run Homes can offer residents a financial arrangement that is usually only available to commercial purchases, called a "PPA". This option passes on substantial cost savings to community members, and we hope will make Solar affordable for many more people than previously have been able to afford it. The PPA model will be explained at the meeting, but for those of you who can't wait to learn about it, here is a link to a San Jose Business Journal article about Sun Run: http://sunrunhome.com/news/PDFs/Silicon%20Valley%20Business%20Jounal.pdf

Please come to the kick-off presentation to learn more about this company and this unique opportunity to install a solar system in your home for a price you can afford!

Finally, REC is offering, at no cost, an on-site evaluation to anyone who is considering installing Solar. We are encouraging people to contact REC before the meeting in order to jump-start the process—this will also (possibly) eliminate wait times for an evaluation after the official kick off. The person to contact at REC is Brandon Heiken. His can be reached at (888) 657-6527 to set up an evaluation appointment, or you can email him at bheiken@recsolar.com . People are also welcome to call Brandon for an appointment if they are unable to come to the meeting on January 23rd.

We look forward to meeting you at the kick-off next week! Save the date! Bring your neighbors!
